In 1982 the first model of the peripheral grinding machine 250 PA-CNC was delivered. The syntax introduced at the time is still being developed today. The program compatibility extends over decades. Programs can easily be transfered and executed to the next machine generation.

The Agathon 250 PA-CNC was suitable for both complex and simple indexable inserts. It impressed with its programmingfinesse, geometric precision and up to 30 percent higher grinding performance. Initially, connectivity was not a requirement.

The first 250 PA-CNC ULTRA were delivered in 1995. With their open interface – the ASCII code with up to 128 characters – the Ultras made it possible to exchange data with higher-level systems. For the first time it was possible to program and manage files on the network.

With the 350 Combi, Agathon has entered the age of Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM). The control of the revolutionary grinding center set new standards in speed, flexibility and convenience. Now it can also be programmed without knowledge of a programming language. Job orders can be created directly on the PC in the office.

The introduction of the 400 series with industrial PC brings major progress in remote maintenance (teleservice) of the machines. Minor faults can now be eliminated in a very short time. For the first time, workpieces and programs are managed centrally via a data pool.

2012 marks the year in which Dom Semi was launched on the market. This machine opens the door to the renewal and expansion of Agathon’s machine portfolio. It is the first machine with completely new control technology. This constitutes the technological basis for modern Industry 4.0.
